Finland’s Boksi.com has arrived in Germany with a splash, acquiring a leading influencer marketing agency and setting up a regional headquarters in Hamburg.

Finland’s Boksi.com has set up a regional headquarters and acquired the influencer GmbH, an influencer marketing agency, in Germany.

Lasse Laaksonen, CEO of Boksi, said the acquisition is a big step for the Finnish startup, one that enables it to ramp up growth by tapping into key knowhow and strong connections in the creator economy in Germany. The influencer GmbH will continue to operate with its established brand, retaining its local expertise while leveraging the platform capabilities of Boksi.

“The synergy between Boksi.com’s technological solutions and our influencer expertise is a game changer,” declared Laetitia Ecklé, CEO of the influencer GmbH. “Our clients can anticipate improved campaign precision and insights, thanks to Boksi’s state-of-the-art software.”

The German agency has a clientele that includes Volkswagen, Westfield and the European Commission.

Boksi also reported that it is opening a regional headquarters for Germany, Austria and Switzerland in Hamburg, Germany.

Both the acquisition and headquarters are part of an expansion effort fuelled by a seven-million-euro series-B funding round announced in October 2023. Led by 3TS Capital Partners and Nexit Ventures, the round consisted of two closings, the first taking place in late 2022 and the second in the latter half of 2023. Boksi highlighted at the time that also a number of existing investors and respected angel investors chipped in, drawn in by its “impressive” track record for driving tangible results for businesses.

“We’ve built a platform that improves the efficiency of working with the creator economy tremendously,” Laaksonen commented in October.

Pekka Mäki, managing partner at 3TS Capital Partners, identified the Finnish startup as one of the technology-forward players that will have a competitive edge in the rapidly expanding influencer marketing landscape.

“Brands are actively looking to harness the potential of the long tail of content creators, which enables more focused marketing activities and deeper brand awareness,” echoed Sami Karppinen, partner at Nexit Ventures.

“Boksi has been instrumental in helping brands with these steps.”
